Festival Week 2011
Glenavy Development Partnership 34th Annual Festival starts on Friday 10 June and runs until Saturday 18th June. Events include:-
Friday 10th June 7pm Fancy Dress Parade
Parade leave’s Dr Hyndman’s Surgery in Glenavy and finish at the Glenaidan centre. Prizes for Most Original, Most Humorous, and Prettiest/Most Handsome. Master and Miss Glenavy will be chosen at this event. A Charity Skipathon will take also take place in the Glenaidan centre after the parade.
Saturday 11th June Senior Citizens Trip to Armagh.
A few tickets are still available, to book please contact Caroline Price on 07808 583967. Adults £10 Concession £5. Includes an evening meal in Halls Mill Inn Lawrencetown.
Saturday 11th June Canoeing at Gawley’s Gate.
Sessions are 10am – 11am 11:15am – 12:15pm 12:30 – 1:30pm
Costs £5 without refreshments £10 with refreshments from The Gate Inn.
No need to book just turn up at Gawleys Gate.
Sunday 12th June 2pm Trip to Rams Island.
An opportuniy to visit the fascinating Rams Island. Bring a picnic or BBQ. Boat leaves from Sandy Bay Marina at 2pm. Returns approx 5pm.
Monday 13th June 7pm Fun Run
3 & 4 Mile routes. Leaving from outside the Pigeon Club, Main Street Glenavy. Refreshments & Medals for all finishers. Entry for Over 16’s is £2 under 16’s is £1
Tuesday 14th June 7pm – 10pm
Team Build Ireland Activity evening.
Archery, Zip lines and lots of games, and BBQ at the Tullynewbank Stables. Cost £10.
Tuesday 14th June Exhibition Cycle race.
Phoenix Cycling and Maryland Wheelers present the Seamus Cormican Memorial Road Race.
Please note this is a spectator event only. This exhibition race starts at 7pm and consists of 6 laps – 22 miles from main street Glenavy – Aghadarragh Rd – Lurgan Road – Edenturcher Road – Glen Rd – Main Street. Presentation of cup after race.
Wednesday 15th June 6:30pm Glenavy Cup Final Night
The return of the eventfull footbball competition taking place in St.Aidans Church Car park.
Teams 6 aside + 1 sub

Held in Lily Johnston's in Main Street, Glenavy. Clues by John Farr. Entry fee of £2.50 per person. Raffle and prizes to be won
Friday 17th June Family Fun Evening 6pm to 9pm
Taking place in Lily Johnston’s with live Music & BBQ.
Friday 17th June 7pm to 9pm Pony School
Learn more about caring for ponies with riding and grooming at Tullynewbank Stables. Costs £10
Saturday 18th June 11am to 4pm Fabulous Fun day & Car Boot sale
Come to St Aidan’s Church Hall and meadow. Rates for Car boot sale are £5 for cars and £8 for vans.
Our best Fun day yet will include a STARDOME and solar viewing with the Irish Astronomical Association.
Also features bouncy castles galore, an assault course, games, zip line, archery, jewellery workshops, face painting and BBQ. The Annual Duck Race that will take place on the Glenavy River at approx 3pm.
